Dimensions – 7-1/2” w x 10-1/2” h

I have been captivated with the gaze of this famous woman for years and wondered if I would be able to capture that spark in her eyes.

African Music Man                - $ 950

Dimensions – 9-1/2” w x 15” h

This old man used to play his one string instrument for coins. While working on this piece, I had to wonder what kind of music my father heard from this man.

Native American Woman        - $ 1,250

 Dimensions – 14-3/4” w x 17-1/4” h

I came across an image of this serious Native American woman and was struck by her gentle, almost restrained stare.   Her eyes show a difficult and complex life.

Bird in Flight                              - $ 250

Dimensions – 10-3/4” w x 7-3/4” h

While walking on the beach, I was able to snap a photograph of my friend feeding a seagull.  I was inspired to re-create it in this drawing capturing its spirit and freedom.

Boy Sucking Thumb             - $ 250

Dimensions – 5” Dia.

This drawing touches upon something we all feel, love and affection toward our mothers. When have we ever felt safer than in our mother’s arms?

Daniel Vella                                - $ 850

 Dimensions – 12” w x 16” h

Daniel is one of the most inspirational artists I know. Born in Malta , he came to America , studied and became an architect. Daniel is the promoter of a museum known as La Cour des Boucliers located in the town of Piermont , New York .  The museum, designed by Vella, is dedicated to the Crusades, the Order of St John and the history and culture of Malta .  My son apprenticed under him, working to help sculpt granite tiles for the floors and he became a good friend to us.  This picture of him shows him in one of his rare serious moments.

Hush                                   - $ 500

 Dimensions – 7-1/4” w x 7-1/4” h

I was asked to make a drawing for my nephew’s club, called Hush. My son’s friend, Tara, was kind enough to pose for me.

Mother Theresa         - $ 3,500

Dimensions – 10-1/2” w x 13-1/2” h

As a devout Catholic, my respect and admiration for mother Theresa is very strong. I was struck by a small photo of Theresa which showed both the age which had taken over her face,  yet still allowed the determination of her spirit to come through. I wanted to capture these qualities on paper. This was a true labor of love, and I was consumed with a desire to complete this piece. I began with a single piece of drawing paper and 11 months later, placed her divine image into this frame.

In early 1997, through the efforts of my wife, I was able to meet Mother Theresa shortly before she died. I was truly touched to have met such a divine woman. She actually held this drawing, and I am still amazed that she touched this piece of mine and blessed me.

Linda – Not For Sale

Little Boy               - $ 1,500

Dimensions – 6” w x 9-1/2” h

I found this little boy on the cover of an old issue of National Geographic. I instantly felt a bond with this happy child and began work on this piece almost as soon as I saw him.  I feel a special attachment to simple village children; it reminds me of my own childhood growing up in the mountains of central Italy . Working on this piece was like reliving my days as a boy, still innocent to the ways of the city and the outside world. When I feel the weight of the world on my shoulders, I stare at this picture and I am brought back to that special time.

Luciano Pavarotti                               - $ 2,500

Dimensions – 21-1/2” w x 17-1/2” h

My love for opera is very deep, and no tenor stirs my blood like Luciano. I always wanted to draw him, but never came across an image of him that conveyed the playful, happy man I knew he was. Finally, I received a book which had two wonderful photos of Luciano. Unable to decide whether to draw him showing his appreciation of the audience, or just a smiling Luciano, I decided I would do both. I spent more than a year on this piece; it took over a month just to complete the beard, which was drawn hair by hair. This is one of my favorite pieces to-date.

African Mother and Son       - $ 2,500

Dimensions – 10-1/2” w x 13-1/2” h

My father was so taken by this young mother and her baby that he never forgot the day he met them.

Angel protecting Children - $ 2,750

This is my son’s favorite piece of mine, maybe because it calls to mind the feeling that all children have a guardian angel.  This piece is my copy of an oil painting which hangs in the Main Church in my hometown of San Demetrio in Abruzzo, Madonna dei Raccomandati. The original is 10 ft high, and is a masterpiece by Teofilo Patini. I looked at that painting every time I was in that Church and I hope that this honors Senor Patini.

Old Warriors                   - $ 1,500

Dimensions – 9-7/8 w x 15” h

This image I found of two old warriors just spoke to me and I had to work on it. I adapted the original to give them a more spiritual look, almost like they are all alone in the world. The older I get, the more I think I feel like an old warrior.

Pope John Paul II                         - $ 3,000

Dimensions – 17-1/2” w x 23-1/2” h

John Paul II stressed what he called the universal call to holiness and attempted to define the Catholic Church's role in the modern world. He was an inspiration to me as a Catholic and this is my tribute to him.

I spent more hours working on this piece than any others; it took me many years to finish.

Sylvia – 10-3/4” x 16-1/2” - Not For Sale

What’s more inspirational than the people who love me the most … Time spent working on their faces was always done with a smile, especially my beautiful wife.

Again, in Kenya, this woman amazed my father with her amazing hair style and her jewelry.

Village Children                   - $ 550

Italy and Soccer, two of my favorite things. This piece reminds me of very happy days, playing soccer on cobblestone streets in my village in Abruzzo.

African Warrior with Shield           - $ 1,750

Dimensions – 9-3/4” w x 16” h

The original photo was taken in Ethiopia by my father of a warrior who was very proud to show off his armor and weaponry.

African Wise Man                         - $ 700

Dimensions – 6” w x 8-1/2” h

This old man would sit by the side of the road, and my father was always amazed at the wisdom he saw in his eyes.

I created this lion portrait for the 2007 Lions Live Free Auction

Kykuit Landscape                        - $ 1,200

Dimensions – 11” w x 9” h

I received an opportunity to participate with several other artists in a ‘summer drawing intensive’ at the Rockefeller Estate in Sleepy Hollow, New York .  With so many beautiful pieces of sculpture to choose from, I elected to draw these two which depict a woman in deep contemplation and a modern headless horse in the background.

Kykuit Statue One                            - $ 1,200

Dimensions – 11” h x 9” w

This is the second in the series I completed at my second year of the ‘summer drawing intensive’ at the Rockefeller Estate in Sleepy Hollow, New York.  With so many beautiful pieces of sculpture to choose from, I elected to draw this one because it was placed so perfectly within the estate, that I could not have created a better backdrop if I had tried. It made me feel like I was in a Roman VIlla.

Kykuit Statue Two                    - $ 1,200

Dimensions – 11” h x 9” w

This is the third in the series I completed at my second year of the ‘summer drawing intensive’ at the Rockefeller Estate in Sleepy Hollow, New York .  I am drawn to the sculptures, as you can tell. The wall of ivy behind it was a challenge, and the pattern in the stone wall was so beautiful that I had to spend the extra time to capture all the detail.

Kykuit Fountain                       - $ 2,100

Dimensions – 11” h x 9” w

This is the fourth in the series which I started during my second year of the ‘summer drawing intensive’ at the Rockefeller Estate in Sleepy Hollow, New York.  I have a special love for fountains,  and this one is among the most beautiful I have seen. I spent four months, over the winter to complete this piece. I am especially proud of the movement of the water as well as the details in the stone wall.
